The shoreline in this piece is not painted.  It is the wood itself.  Bare beech ply, warm and uncoloured, holding the land the way land has always been held.  The ocean was built in layers of deep ink, collected seawater, oil and watercolour, moving from the dark inky blues of open water into the white foam where the wave finally meets the shore.

Roughly seventy-two percent of this circular work is ocean.  The same proportion as our planet. That is not a coincidence, it is a conversation.

Hidden in the white water, where the wave breaks against the grain of the wood, is a face.  A profile.  Not painted so much, as found.  Placed where the beech grain already suggested it was waiting.  A small boat sits anchored in all that vastness.  One life, held by the sea.

The title holds three truths at once.  See her – look until you find her.  Sea her – the ocean as a living, feminine force, producing seventy-two percent of the oxygen we breathe.  She her – every person who has ever stood at a shoreline and felt something shift inside them.

There is a thought behind this work: that every human profile exists somewhere, either at the edge of the sea, or quietly growing inside the grain of a tree.

We are already written into the living world. We always were.
