Rendered in shades of soft white against a black gesso’d canvas, Dissipate captures the quiet erosion of the self: that instinctive urge to disappear when life becomes too heavy to bear.
The profile of a woman emerges delicately from swirling smoke, or perhaps she’s dissolving into it. The boundary is intentionally unclear. She is either becoming or unbecoming, held in that weightless moment between presence and absence. The smoke, like thought or memory, blurs her outline and softens her identity.
This piece is about surrender: the desire to release everything you carry, to become air, to vanish into the atmosphere without resistance or explanation. It’s not about weakness; it’s about mercy. The kind we offer ourselves when we’ve held on for too long.
