Serenity is a striking and minimalist piece in comparison to my other works. One of the earliest in my ever evolving exploration of the “falling woman” motif, and perhaps the most iconic. A lone figure in a flowing white dress tumbles downward through open space, suspended mid-fall. Her expression, however, is not one of fear, but peace.
The canvas is sparse and deliberate, amplifying the emotional impact of her stillness in motion. Small, abstract fragments: monochrome and delicate, peel away from her as she descends, like pieces of identity or memory being shed with gravity’s pull. There is no chaos here, only surrender. The kind of surrender that comes not from defeat, but from a deep acceptance.
This is not a cry for help, it’s a letting go. A trust in the fall itself. In Serenity, the descent becomes an act of grace. A beautiful unraveling. A peaceful collapse.
